Chair Yoga modifies yoga poses so that they can be done while seated in a chair or using the chair for support. These modifications make yoga accessible to people who have various physical limitations, or those who find other types of yoga classes too challenging. Chair yoga can also serve as a great introduction to yoga for those who are first-time yogis! While seated comfortably in a chair, students can enjoy versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends, and mild back-bends. In addition to a good stretch, chair yoga participants can enjoy other health benefits from yoga, including improved muscle tone, better breathing habits, reduction of stress, better sleep, and a sense of well being. Using a chair for seated poses as well as support in standing poses, you will move safely and be encouraged to listen to your body.
